A nature-based Early Learning Center meets a critical need

The City of Lebanon intends to build a new early learning center that will provide high quality child care for 200 children. In partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Central New Hampshire, the City will offer early learning and after-school programs, as well as an associated staff training center, to be housed in the same building.

The proposed site design takes advantage of the existing slope and maximizes engagement with the natural landscape. The City envisions this development not only as a childcare facility, but as a public park that accommodates this use. As such, the integration between the building, the interior/exterior spaces provided by porches adjacent to all classrooms, and the surrounding play spaces, landscape and adjacent woodland is paramount. The building will feature a high-performance envelope and on-site photovoltaics to support net-zero energy use.
